Frequently Asked Questions

Who are IES's equipment technology partners?

IES partners with six equipment manufacturers serving the semiconductor, photonics, MEMS, and compound materials industries: Veeco (Massachusetts, USA), EV Group (Austria), scia Systems (Germany), Alpha Plasma (Germany), Surface Science Integration (Arizona, USA), and Plasma Parylene Systems (Germany). Each covers a different core technology, from lithography and wafer bonding to plasma processing and thin film deposition.

Alpha Plasma

Bad Aibling, Germany

Established in 2011, Alpha Plasma Germany is a globally operating supplier of microwave plasma processing equipment to the semiconductor and electronics industries. Long-term experience in sales and manufacturing makes Alpha Plasma an ideal partner for the rapidly changing world of electronics. We specialize in providing low pressure Advanced Microwave Plasma Technologies to both, the wafer fabrication and chip packaging industries.

Alpha Plasma is located at Gewerbepark Markfeld 13, DE-83043 Bad Aibling in Germany and works with a worldwide network of partners: agents, distributors and associates.

IES represent Alpha Plasma in the United Kingdom, Benelux, Ireland and Scandinavia and have established a highly successful partnership over the past 5 years. We offer Alpha’s product portfolio of classic batch plasma systems as well as fully automated equipment for processing individual substrates, wafers and devices.

An example from this portfolio is the Alpha Plasma Microwave Cleaner AL 76 Compact, which is truly an all-rounder. Its special strength, however, is to clean high-brightness LED’s as well as wafers in MEMS production and niche markets. When equipped with Alpha’s unique ECR mode, AL 76 Compact is running 24/7 mass production in LED assembly.

The Alpha Plasma Q Series comprises Microwave Plasma batch ashers for fast and damage-free photo resist stripping.

Does IES supply equipment for atomic layer deposition (ALD)?

Yes. IES partners with Veeco, based in Massachusetts, USA, to supply atomic layer deposition tools to the UK and European microelectronics market.

Who supplies wafer bonding and nano-imprint lithography equipment in the UK and Europe?

IES partners with EV Group (EVG), based in St. Florian am Inn, Austria, covering photolithography, nano-imprinting, and wafer bonding systems.

What plasma processing equipment does IES provide?

IES works with two specialist plasma partners: Alpha Plasma (Bad Aibling, Germany), which covers microwave etching for resist ashing, descum, surface activation, and device packaging; and Plasma Parylene Systems (Rosenheim, Germany), which covers wider plasma technology applications.

Who supplies ion beam trimming and lens figuring equipment?

IES partners with scia Systems, based in Chemnitz, Germany, which specialises in advanced ion beam trimming, lens figuring, and milling solutions.

Does IES offer rapid thermal processing (RTP) equipment?

Yes, through IES's partnership with Surface Science Integration, based in Arizona, USA, which specialises in rapid thermal processing systems.

Can I see this equipment demonstrated before buying?

Yes. IES can arrange live or online demonstrations at its partners' application labs across Europe and the US, covering EVG, scia Systems, Veeco, PPS, and SSI, tailored to a specific process or a full solution evaluation.

Why buy semiconductor equipment through IES rather than direct from the manufacturer?

IES provides local UK and European engineering support, application knowledge, and long-term service backing alongside the equipment itself, rather than just a sales transaction — relevant given IES has supported semiconductor fabs and OEMs since 1991.

Experience the Technology Firsthand

Discover the capabilities of our equipment partners — including EVG, scia Systems, Veeco, PPS and SSI — through live or online demonstrations from their dedicated application labs across Europe and the US. Whether you're exploring a specific process or evaluating a full solution, we can arrange tailored demos to match your requirements.
