Junior Field Service Engineer (FSE) - Semiconductor Equipment

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates will ideally possess ONC/HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering and a basic knowledge of the semiconductor world will be a plus. The junior engineer may be offered to work in one or more of the following areas:

• Ion Implantation
• Diffusion / CVD Furnaces
• Wet Etch, Dry (Plasma) Etch
• Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
• Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) / Sputtering Systems
• Photolithography, Chemical Mechanical Polish (CMP)
• Rapid Thermal Processing and Metrology (SEM, XRF, Film Thickness Measurement, AFM)
• Other areas as required or benefitting.

A junior field service engineer should hold a basic understanding of electrical, mechanical and electronic systems.

Requirements

The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following experience at a customer site:

For the following requirements you will be working alongside a more seasoned engineer. The process of learning will be on the job training and using a three-step approach – Looking, doing with support and then doing on your own with the goal of understanding, practicing and then applying.

• Evaluate, analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot technical equipment problems
• Repair and modify equipment
• Evaluate equipment to determine the type and extent of problems
• Repair of system-level issues
• Prepare field service reports on customer support activity and provide documentation to other supporting functions on re-occurring issues
• The nature of work may require on some occasions that you will work independently once you have mastered a subject.
• Contribute to the capturing, re-use, collaboration, and improvement of knowledge using available systems.
• May be required to complete other business activities on behalf of the company from time to time in line with identified skills, competencies and experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in IT skills, including all Microsoft Office systems, in particular intermediate Excel capability
• Ability to work autonomously and use initiative to resolve issues, but escalate problems or questions as appropriate
• Excellent planning and time management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the Company
• Delivery Focused
• Quality of records and paperwork (presentation, accuracy, timeliness and completeness) in line with company expectations and high standards.
• Expense management, employee can manage their own expenses within company budgetary guidelines. Operating efficiently at lowest cost.
• Employees become comfortable and able to interface with the customer to describe technical issues with clarity.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude whilst on customer/clients’ sites

• Candidates must be eligible to work and live within any of the following; The UK, Any European Country (Germany, Ireland, France, Austria, Poland, etc), US, Taiwan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, The Philippines, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, and / or Russia and hold a full and valid driving license for their country of residence.

Training, Education & Experience

Experience with multiple tools to ensure competent, safe use including but not limited to:

• Standard tools in a field service engineers toolbox.
• Oscilloscopes 
• Multi-meters
• scilloscopes
• Wave generators
• AC/DC PSUs
• Others as required.

Special Working Conditions

• Additional and/or unsociable hours may be necessary when required.
• Early starts and late finishes are not uncommon.
• Travel away from home and abroad required.
