    Internal Sales & Marketing Engineer


    The Internal Sales and Marketing Engineer role provides support to both the Sales Division and Marketing Division. The role is 75% sales and 25% marketing, and is a bridge between the Sales Team and Marketing Team, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the company’s products and services.


    • Act as the first point of contact for all new sales enquiries (website and phone calls)
    • Allocate new enquiries to the Sales Team and oversee enquiry progression into the company database (MS Dynamics 365)
    • Schedule customer meetings and site surveys where required, processing customer (supplier) questionnaires
    • Regularly attend customer meetings to build up a solid understanding of IES products and services, along with the diverse range of customer requirements
    • Work with the Sales Team to compile job/project costings and communicate proposals to customers in a timely manner
    • Communicate with customers to gain feedback on quotations
    • Liaise with IES Operations Team to ensure successful job set-up and delivery. Provide operational support when required
    • Maintain and grow customer base through regular contact, maintaining customer satisfaction
    • Uphold data integrity of CRM database
    • Identify and monitor tender opportunities
    • Accurate and timely completion of monthly reporting requirements
    • Achieve sales targets at agreed pricing and profit levels, within agreed markets
    • Development path to field sales for the right candidate


    • Provide feedback on the quality of sales enquiries across all business areas, to help steer digital marketing efforts
    • Identify opportunities to improve website and marketing collateral throughout the buyer’s journey – awareness, consideration and decision
    • Provide input and support for the creation of marketing content/collateral to help drive customers to the website, including case studies, guides and blogs
    • Gather marketing intelligence to ensure IES maintain a competitive advantage over the competition
    • Communicate details of target accounts to help focus marketing campaigns
    • Support with website maintenance tasks to ensure IES (plus IES Inc., IES Electrical and IES Semiconductor Parts) websites are accurate and up-to-date at all times


    Knowledge and Skills

    • Proficient in MS Office applications inc. Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong literacy and numerical skills
    • Excellent communication, organisation  & prioritisation capabilities
    • Self-starter and strong team player
    • Results-driven
    • A keen eye for detail
    • Operate a flexible approach to workload and assume new responsibilities where appropriate
    • Minimum 1-2 years experience in a sales environment
    • Background in engineering is an advantage
    • Full, clean driving licence

    Special Working Conditions

    • Additional hours may be required; early starts and late finishes are not uncommon
    • Customers, suppliers and contractors are often overseas and in different time zones. Maintaining communications outside UK office hours may be required.


    Salary / Rate: Negotiable and dependant on experience
    Basic Hours: Monday to Friday, 0900-1700hrs
