Philips have used ies for several ah-hoc moves within the UK and Europe and also a complete Fab move at Hazel Grove. With regard the latter, Philips transferred production to a new clean room. This move totaled 220 new and existing tool moves, which needed a great deal of co-ordination and flexibility to minimize the effect on production.
Anyone involved in such arrangements will appreciate the complexity of this type of operation and only by a totally flexible approach to timing and staffing levels can this type of operation take place.
