IES undertake a high precision relocation

Xaar enlist the help from the experts

As part of their UK expansion, Xaar based in Huntingdon appointed IES as the primary contractor to relocate a high technology production line from Sweden to the UK. Xaar, the world’s leading independent supplier of industrial inkjet print heads, selected IES to provide a turn-key service to undertake the time critical move of the delicate, high value equipment. Working closely with Xaar’s team, IES engineers undertook the decommissioning of machinery and implemented H&S assessments. At the receiving site, IES managed the re-installation of equipment into a new clean room facility.

Rod Perks, Relocation Project Manager Xaar, said “IES have proven to be an excellent choice of business partner and have provided Xaar with the required ‘comfort & credibility’ required on this important relocation project”

IES continue to develop its CE marking services with a significant investment in Bristol, UK. In addition to the existing capability of providing on-site test services, IES has installed a purpose-built EMC test chamber. As well as enhancing the test regimes available, this allows more flexibility in scheduling by allowing portable equipment to be shipped to IES and assessed without the restrictions of site access and equipment transport. The on-site CE consultancy services provide flexible and cost-effective solutions for a wide range of customers, ranging from medical instruments to full factory assessments.

IES Managers Raise £800 for Cystic Fibrosis

On Sunday 19 March 2006 two members of the ies team ran the Bath Half Marathon for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. By the time they’d crossed the finishing line of the 13.1 mile race, they’d raised over £800, £100 coming from ies staff.

Simon Bamford, Head of Shipping, Case Making and Projects said, “I decided to run the marathon for cystic fibrosis as my Girlfriends niece is a sufferer. Seeing the daily treatment, in terms of medicine intake and physiotherapy made me want to do something to help research into the disease.” Matt Boyd, Sales Manager, added, “The weather and the course was the toughest we have yet experienced. However the motivation gained from raising a good amount of money for the CF Trust helped push us around the course and got us through the tough miles, especially the last mile, which was uphill.” Affecting over 7,500 people in the UK, cystic fibrosis is the UK’s most common life-threatening, inherited disease, which affects vital organs in the body, clogging them with sticky mucus, making it difficult for sufferers to breathe and digest food. One in 25 of the population carry the fault CF gene. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust funds research aimed at understanding, treating, and curing the disease and each year needs to raise £8 million to continue its work. At ies, we all applaud Matt and Simon for doing so much to help them achieve this goal!
