IES increase their University customer base

As part of its on-going relationship with the University of Southampton, IES recently supported the university with the installation of a new clean room facility.

The university combines academic excellence with an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to research that requires special facilities and expensive high-tech equipment. When new equipment had to be moved to Southampton and repopulated following the destruction of a clean room, IES provided the required logistical support.

During the clean-room build, £30m of equipment was carefully shipped to IES warehouses for short-term storage before being transferred to Southampton. Due to the need to protect precision optical components, part of the equipment consignment was stored and insured in an IES temperature-controlled warm-room – just another of the specialised facilities IES offers.

Successful completion of the project relied on detailed planning and co-operation with the university to ensure safe delivery of the sensitive equipment to meet the client’s schedule.

The close relationship with Southampton University demonstrates how, thanks to its considerable experience and reputation, IES increasingly works with leading universities and other academic institutions when they need to relocate and install valuable equipment.
